THINKING OUT CLOUD: HOW CLOUD IS CHANGING IT AND SOFTWARE PROCUREMENT
“I wish it took me a little longer to buy technology,” said no one ever. Technology has undergone massive transformation in the last decade with a profusion of purpose-built, user-centric options. Now, as public sector customers begin transforming their technology by replacing on-premise hardware with cloud and adopting software marketplaces, finance and procurement need to know how to support these this transformation. This session discusses how cloud technology and software marketplaces are transforming IT procurement in the public sector.

Tami Fillyaw is the Finance, Administration, Cybersecurity, & Tax (FACT) Leader at Amazon Web Services (AWS). Her role is to help state and local government agencies leverage the cloud to improve business operations, financial performance, and customer interactions. Prior to AWS, Tami served 22 years in Florida government leading enterprise operations as the state’s Deputy Chief Financial Officer, Deputy Secretary of Workforce Operations, and Chief of Staff. During her time in public service, she founded Florida’s transparency portal for state expenditures and contracts, modernized the state’s $2.7 billion group health plan, and transformed labor, benefits, and procurement functions using cloud-based tools.
