ABOUT THE EMERGING PROFESSIONALS PROGRAM
Mission
The WA-NIGP Emerging Professionals (EP) Program focuses on the future of our profession by supporting the growth and success of current, new, and future public procurement, contracting, and supply chain professionals. This program aims to help members establish and reach for their learning, advancement, and excellence goals by creating opportunities for emerging professionals to build relationships, expand skills, and advance careers while continuing to promote ethics of the profession, public trust, and applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
Purpose
• Provide a judgement-free environment for public procurement professionals to learn, grow, and ask questions of procurement leaders
• Identify and establish long-term training and career goals, with a clear path forward • Create connection space with other public procurement professionals across local and national public entities
• Support knowledge-sharing, professional development, Pathways, and certification to encourage talent development and career advancement within the procurement profession
• Ensure that the information and experience of procurement leaders is available and successfully shared
• Raise awareness of WA-NIGP and NIGP national resources, and how to get/stay involved and volunteer
Eligibility Requirements
• Open to all active WA-NIGP members
• Intended target audience:
o Those with five (5) years or less of procurement, contracting, and supply chain experience or;
o Members looking to grow from a practitioner to a leadership role
Emerging Professionals Sessions
• Bi-monthly, one-hour, virtual sessions
• Create opportunities to connect in person where feasible
• Content to align with purpose above – primarily round tables combined with training sessions, activities, etc
